Preliminary Exercise:

Using DTP and an image manipulation program, produce the front page of a new school/collage magazine.When i was taking the shot I took it in a way to give focus to the subjects face and the flame of fire coming from the Bunsen burner the reason for this is because the bunsen burner immediately makes you think science so even with out reading the title you inform the reader about the solo purpose of the magazine. Then the reason for the focus on the subjects face is to show that he is happy and enjoying him self promoting the fact that science is fun so suggesting the magazine will be fun and exciting as well. The way i composed it was to give focus to the flame and the subjects face on the golden line while following the rule of thirds and then also leaving my self adequate space to add my title at the top and text to run down the left hand side. i have kept to a them of majority of red and blue the reason for this is because by having red it links to the flame of the Bunsen burner and it is eye catching for the prospective buyer. As well as my reasons for the blue is due to the schools them of blue and this is the reason i choose a Bunsen burner with a blue base. The way i arranged the text was to place it all in the hot spot areas so putting any thing thats important to inform the read and any thing that may draw the reader in to entice the viewer to buy it to take the hooks on the front cover and read the magazine. I only used 3 fonts in order to keep it from looking messy or untidy. The reason for why i choose these fronts is because they stand out but at the same time be easy and clear to read.
